How Did We Get Here? is about the detriments technology has on relationships today. The big question the photograph asks is “Is love still possible?” The photo shows a couple trying really hard to touch each other and to be close but they are surrounded by technology that is keeping them apart. Are they trying hard enough? Do they actually care? Is there truly a need to be surrounded by this much technology all the time? The photo explores how much control we have over our technologies and in what ways they impact our relationships. Whether we realize it or not, technology has affected the way we interact with people in our everyday lives. It has been this way for a long time. Is it going to continue to get worse?
Personal Statement:
“I chose to shoot in black and white because I think color would be too much of a distraction. The focus should be on what is going on in the picture and how it makes you feel. It is large scale to engage the audience. It is a photo with elements of photoshop to add means of technology to help dramatize the effects technology has on us and our relationships.”
