Irreparable

Megan Thompson, Third Year, Film and Media Studies

The photos on the wall show a story. A story of a girl with much hope, and one day she finds love. She trusts him with everything, even her heart. After some time, he begins to see how far he can squeeze and twist her heart and her trust until, one day, it bursts. He doesn’t think much about it because, after all it isn’t his heart that broke. So, he returns it to her. Leaving her standing there, alone. Alone with only the shell of her broken heart. Alone, having to rebuild her heart and trust, but some things will never be the same. No matter how much time goes by, no matter how often she sits there trying to piece the shell back together, it will forever remain shattered.

Personal Statement

“I decided to come up with this story because this is something that happens to many people. Not everyone realizes the lasting effect that they can have on people. They can cause trust issues and make people put up walls around themselves that weren’t there before. It can cause a very big effect on future relationships. It can cause someone to look at themselves differently, and some of those things can never go back to the way they were before the break.”
